Boston Celtics Get Unexpected Injury News Right Before Magic Game

Tonight, the Boston Celtics are set to close out an eventual 2025-26 NBA regular season at home against the Orlando Magic.

The Magic are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference but are still fighting to avoid the play-in. They’ll be expected to play their normal rotation and grab a victory tonight.

On the other hand, the Celtics are packing it in for the regular season. They already clinched the second seed in the conference and have nothing to play for tonight. Boston announced a lengthy injury report yesterday.

As the final seedings take shape today, the Celtics can sit back and relax as they wait to find out their first round opponent.

In the opening round, Boston will play the winner of the seventh seed vs. eighth seed play-in game.

Boston Celtics Make Late Addition to Injury Report

For the most part, Celtics fans don’t really have much to worry about anymore when it comes to their team’s health.

The C’s faced turbulent stretches this season where they saw multiple key rational players out of the lineup. Later in the season, league MVP candidate Jaylen Brown, who had the best year of his pro career, began dealing with minor Achilles tendinitis, though it has kept him out of a couple of games.

Brown along with a host of other Celtics will be in street clothes tonight enjoying the time off. By the time Boston plays Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs, its starters would’ve gotten well over a week of rest. That can be big.

Tonight, the lesser-known names will get the opportunity to shine.

In addition to all the Celtics who have been either ruled out or listed as doubtful, guard Hugo Gonzalez could also miss tonight’s contest against the Magic.

Gonzalez has been listed as questionable with right foot pain. Gonzalez, 20, has averaged 3.9 points in 14.6 minutes per game this season. In Friday’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, the Celtics guard tallied 10 points and connected on two of his four 3-pointers, showing what he can do when given more playing time.

Rest and Recover Time

The real games are almost here. For teams like Boston that carry enormous postseason expectations, the week between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs is a bit of a gray area. Some teams struggle with the extra time off as it can cause some rust; others see it as a God send.

Considering some injury struggles the Celtics had in the regular season, they are likely happy with the mini-break.

After all, Boston wants to be fully healthy for Game 1 in TD Garden. Those fans will be deafening after all the emotions they went through in the regular season.
