Body found in Boulder Canyon officially IDed as missing CU Boulder student

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office officially identified a body found Saturday near Boulder Canyon as that of a missing University of Colorado Boulder student.

When the body was found, officials said it matched the description of Megan Trussell, 18, who was last seen at her dorm on Feb. 9. She was reported missing by her family on Wednesday.

Officials have not determined a cause or manner of death, according to a release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. However, sheriff’s spokesperson Vinnie Montez said Monday it was too soon to say whether the disappearance involved foul play or if Trussell’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Family members and friends gathered Monday near the spot where Trussell’s body was found to remember her life and share stories. The group spoke of her love of films and music and her offbeat sense of humor.

Sheriff’s officials encourage anyone with information about where Trussell was on Feb. 9 or any other information to submit tips to BCSOtips@bouldercounty.gov.
