Bo Nix Delivers Clear Injury Update, Sends Message About Broncos Future

Bo Nix met with the media Wednesday afternoon for the first time since suffering his season-ending ankle injury.

As DNVR’s Zac Stevens noted, he didn’t leave much room for uncertainty:

The Denver Broncos quarterback spoke directly about his injury, insisting it won’t affect his offseason, his mobility, or Denver’s outlook moving forward.

“It was a bummer,” Nix said of getting injured after a playoff win.

“It was a little bit unknown at the end of the game. I was just going about business as usual.”

But that uncertainty is now gone.

Nix called his surgery “simple and easy,” described the injury as “just a simple bone break,” and made it clear he’s already eager to get back to work.

“Ready to roll,” Nix said.

Despite the disappointment of watching the AFC Championship Game from the sideline, which he described as “helpless,”  Nix said the experience will motivate him even more to get back to this point.

“All adversity is good,” he said. “The exciting part is getting ready for next year.”

Bo Nix Details Injury, Timeline, and Recovery Plan

Bo Nix said he’ll be back training in four to six weeks and expects no disruption to his normal offseason routine.

“Absolutely no issue this offseason,” Nix said.

“I don’t see it being an issue at all. It won’t affect my training. Won’t affect my season at all.”

Nix made it clear he’ll begin training when he originally planned to, explaining that he was already scheduled to take some time off.

He also pushed back strongly on concerns that the injury could affect his ability as a running quarterback.

“Absolutely not,” Nix said.

After comments from head coach Sean Payton on Tuesday suggested there may have been something preexisting with the ankle, Nix offered clarification.

“There was nothing predisposed,” he said. “Something may have got confused.”

Nix also rejected the idea that he’s injury prone.

He pointed out that he’s played four straight seasons and more than 60 games without missing time.

Nix Shows Confidence in Broncos Future

While Nix acknowledged how difficult it was to watch Denver’s season end without being able to play, he framed the moment as motivation rather than frustration.

“For me, it’s just going to make playing in one of these games that much more special,” Nix said.

He expressed confidence that Denver’s 2025 breakthrough isn’t a one-off.

“There will be more seasons to play for a championship with the Broncos,” Nix said.

The second-year quarterback added that he’s “so blessed” to be in “a great organization with great people and support.”

He emphasized that Denver is trying to make winning playoff games a “theme” moving forward.

With Nix expected to be 100% healthy for training camp, he will look to take another big leap in Year 3 of his NFL career.
