The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to keep a solid 2026 MLB season rolling with another game against the Chicago White Sox. The team is also looking to reward Mason Fluharty for his solid play early in the season.
The Blue Jays are off to a great start as far as their record goes, but injuries have made a large dent in their starting rotation. Toronto has signed a new pitcher; however, they have decided to go a different direction with the starting pitcher for their Saturday, April 4th, 2026, game against the White Sox.
Toronto Blue Jays Reveal Mason Fluharty as Starting Pitcher

Right now, the Blue Jays’ starting rotation has four pitchers: Dylan Cease, Kevin Gausman, Max Scherzer, and Eric Lauer.
Toronto has injuries to its starting pitchers, who are in various stages of rehab. Trey Yesavage, Jose Berrios, and Shane Bieber are the starters that the Blue Jays are hoping can return and make an impact with a clean bill of health. However, Yesavage is the closest to returning of that trio.
Because of this, the Blue Jays have named a surprise starter for their Saturday game. Fluharty will start Saturday’s game, according to Keegan Matheson.
“Mason Fluharty will start for the #BlueJays tomorrow,” Keegan reported on April 3rd, 2026.
In four appearances, Fluharty has pitched 1.2 innings with four strikeouts and a 1.80 WHIP. This will be the first start of his MLB career.
Last year, Fluharty finished the season with six holds, one save, a 5-2 win/loss record, and 56 strikeouts to go along with a 1.14 WHIP and a 4.44 ERA.
Blue Jays Have Added Another Pitcher
Recently, the Blue Jays have signed another pitcher to join their ranks. Patrick Corbin and the Blue Jays agreed to a one-year contract worth $1 Million.
Corbin has pitched 373 regular season games in his MLB career. He has collected 1860 strikeouts and 110 wins over that time. During his 13-year career, he has played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Washington Nationals, and the Texas Rangers before coming to Toronto.
Last year, he pitched for the Rangers. In 31 games, he pitched 131 strikeouts to go along with a 1.36 WHIP and a 4.40 ERA.
He will begin his Blue Jays tenure playing for Dunedin.
