REDWOOD CITY — A fire in Redwood City on Tuesday damaged four buildings and displaced some residents, according to a city fire department spokesperson.
Redwood City firefighters received a call around 11:45 a.m. of a structure fire on the 300 block of Poplar Avenue.
The blaze grew to a three-alarm fire, which spread from one building to another, the spokesperson said. The cause remains under investigation.
Nearby residents and those at Fair Oaks Elementary School were notified to shelter in place due to smoke in the area, according to a social media post by Redwood City. By 3 p.m., some of the fire units started to leave the scene.

The spokesperson did not say what each of the affected buildings were, but said one of the buildings was under construction. An unknown number of residents were displaced by the fire.
