Bills WR Keon Coleman Faces Trade Prediction as NFL Draft Nears

Keon Coleman’s days with the Buffalo Bills could be coming to an end this week, an NFL insider has hinted.

Coleman was on shaky ground after the conclusion of last season, when team owner Terry Pegula pointedly called him out during a press conference to discuss Sean McDermott’s firing. Pegula blamed Coleman’s selection on the recently fired coach, casting doubt over Coleman’s future in Buffalo.

Keon Coleman Could Become Trade Bait

The Bills could now be preparing to shop Coleman around during the NFL draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Schefter reported on Monday that there are rumblings around the league that the Bills could be prepared to trade Coleman during this week’s draft.

“Those who could gain interest include Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr., Titans quarterback Will Levis, Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler, Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr., Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II, Giants edge Kayvon Thibodeaux, Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman and 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, among others,” Schefter reported.

Coleman had a disappointing season in 2025, watching his production drop from his rookie season and running into trouble with the team. Coleman was benched twice for disciplinary reasons and was a healthy scratch four total times.

Keon Coleman Faced Warning About Future in Buffalo

After the remarks from Pegula, Bills general manager Brandon Beane gave more optimistic remarks about Coleman’s future, saying the team still valued him and expected him to improve. Beane reiterated some of those comments last week, saying Coleman has been receptive to the team’s feedback but needs to show he has matured.

“It’s not all talk,” Beane told The Athletic. “I think Keon understands what he can control and what he can’t, and we all mature at different times. It’s not an ability thing with him. … But when you let the stuff that occurred off the field, that then affects what your opportunities are on the field.”

“Listen, he has to go do it, but I think we feel confident that the maturity level is heading where it needs to. Again, he’s got to go do it. We believe in the skill set, and that’s part of what your culture is. We all grow at different times; none of us were a made product at 21, 22. Do you wish you had to go through that with him? No, you don’t. But you hope for us, and for him, he looks back and says, ‘That was the best thing that happened to me.’ That’s what you hope. And we’re putting all our eggs in his basket to come back for year three and be a part of this group, however that is.”

The Bills may need to keep Coleman for more practical purposes. The wide receiver room has undergone some changes, with the team cutting ties with Curtis Samuel and allowing Brandin Cooks to hit free agency. Though the Bills added DJ Moore through a trade with the Chicago Bears, they are still thin in the wide receiving corps and could use Coleman’s contributions in 2026.
