Bills Urged to Sign 13,295-Yard WR to Supercharge Joe Brady’s Offense

The Buffalo Bills are entering a crucial season, and one of the main offseason focuses was ensuring quarterback Josh Allen has enough support around him to succeed this year.

Buffalo traded a second-round pick in 2026 to acquire Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore, and it seems there may be more veteran receiver help on the horizon if the Bills decide to pursue that route again.

Bills Urged to Sign DeAndre Hopkins

CBS Sports NFL writer Jordan Dajani highlighted the Buffalo Bills as an ideal landing spot for free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

“If not Joe Burrow, how about Josh Allen? Just this offseason, Hopkins told Kay Adams he and Allen could “do some damage.” The Buffalo Bills have made it clear they are Super Bowl or bust with the surprising firing of coach Sean McDermott,” Dajani wrote on Tuesday. There’s pressure on Brandon Beane and Joe Brady to win now, and the Bills didn’t exactly revamp Allen’s weaponry this offseason apart from the DJ Moore acquisition.”

Hopkins has spent 13 years in the NFL, playing for five teams: the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.

In 195 games, Hopkins has recorded 13,295 receiving yards and 85 touchdowns. The only concern is that his numbers were disappointing last season, as he caught 22 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games with the Ravens.

Hopkins Wants to Play With Allen

If the Bills are considering adding another veteran wide receiver, bringing in Hopkins could definitely be a smart move. Buffalo wouldn’t need to give up anything to acquire him, and he might be a perfect match with Allen. Plus, Hopkins has already expressed his desire to play alongside the star quarterback.

In January, Hopkins was on “Up & Adams” and told Kay Adams that he would like to play with Allen.

“Me and Josh Allen could do some damage, for sure,” Hopkins told Adams, via Ryan Talbot from Syracuse.com. “I’m a football guy now, and Buffalo is a football team, and Josh Allen is a football player. He’s a player’s player as we say.

“I think I’m quarterback-proof, if I’m just being honest. I’m not saying that just to say that, but Will Levis and I? We connected for almost 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns. Give me a Josh Allen and who knows?”

Hopkins has showcased impressive skills throughout his NFL career, playing alongside talents like Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. If he gets the opportunity to team up with Allen, he could prove to be one of the best on that list.

There could be a handful of reasons Hopkins is still a free agent, and he may be holding out hope that the Bills sign him or that another team with a chance to win the Super Bowl does. Since Hopkins likely has only a few years left in his career, he wants to play for a team with a shot at the Super Bowl and a strong quarterback. There are only a select few teams that fit that description, and the Bills are definitely one of them.
