Bills Predicted to Reunite With Long-Time Veteran This Offseason

The Buffalo Bills still have an opportunity to re-sign a few free agents who remain on the market two months into the free agency period. One area where they could focus on improving is the secondary.

Fansided’s Brandon Ray published an article on Saturday, predicting where current Bills free agents might sign this offseason. He believes that cornerback Tre’Davious White will return to Buffalo.

“The Bills need to fill out their cornerback room, and Brandon Beane has been open about a potential reunion with Tre’Davious White,” Ray wrote. “He played great football in Buffalo last season, and bringing him back for atleast one more year wouldn’t hurt the team at all.”

White has had two different stints with the Bills. His first stint lasted from 2017 to 2023, and then he returned for another one last season. The 31-year-old appeared in 16 games last season, recording one interception.

Pro Football Focus ranked White as the 52nd overall cornerback out of 114 last season, giving him a 44th in coverage grade.

Brandon Beane Hinted at a Possible White Return

There’s a strong possibility that White could return to the Bills following comments made by general manager Brandon Beane a few days before the 2026 NFL Draft on April 21.

“We love Tre’Davious…..you’d never close the door on bringing a guy like that back to Buffalo,” Beane said via, Matthew Bové.

It would be fantastic to see White return for another season with the Bills. He already feels at home playing in Buffalo and was thrilled to come back to where his career began last season.

“I told my agent, if you can’t get Buffalo on the line, don’t call me,” White said in April 2025, via Nick Faria, of Athlon Sports. “Walking through the door yesterday, it just seemed like I never left. So many familiar faces. Some new faces, too. But I just feel in place. I feel like home.”

How Could The Davison Igbinosun Addition Affect White Coming Back to The Bills

The only concern regarding White’s possible return to the Bills is Buffalo’s decision during this year’s draft to select Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun in the second round.

Igbinosun is poised to step in from Day 1 and may vie for a starting position. However, there’s still a possibility that the team might consider bringing White back into the fold, even with Igbinosun on board. They could certainly benefit from added depth at cornerback, and Beane understands how crucial it is to bolster that position.

“You want to make sure, as the season goes along, if injury strikes, that you’ve got enough guys, even if they’re not starters,” Beane said after the draft, via Bills.com Alec White “How many guys we went through last season that played in the playoffs for us, or helped us get to the playoffs. So you’re going to need those guys.”

“Corners are premium positions,” Beane said. “Those guys are all going to play, they’re going to play. It’s a long season. And when you have corners that are not capable, they get bull’s eyes on them real fast, and especially when you’re playing the prime time quarterbacks, the prime time offenses in this league.”

The Bills would be wise to bring White back for another season, as his experience could help Igbinosun and the other rookie cornerbacks adjust to the NFL level.
