Fremont: Motorcyclist killed in collision Thursday night

The fatal crash happened around 9:05 a.m. at the intersection of San Tomas Expressway and West Campbell Avenue, the Campbell Police Department said in a news release.

The adult male bicyclist was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

The driver, meanwhile, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

There was no indication alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision, police said.

Southbound lanes of San Tomas Expressway and eastbound lanes of West Campbell Avenue were closed for an investigation and did not fully reopen until 1:30 p.m.
