Bicyclist dies days after being struck in East Pilsen

A man has died nearly two weeks after he was hit by a car while riding a bike in East Pilsen.

The 64-year-old was riding his bike about 4:15 a.m. Oct. 27 in the 1900 block of South Union Avenue when a Jeep struck him and fled the scene, Chicago police said.

The victim suffered a head injury and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died Wednesday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which ruled his death an accident. His name hasn’t been released.

No arrests have been reported, and CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
