Bengals in Talks With Offensive Weapon About Possible Extension

TCincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown doesn’t see himself leaving Cincinnati anytime soon.

Chase Brown told ESPN on Tuesday that his representation is in talks with the team regarding a new deal. Brown is eligible for an extension after his third year in the NFL.

“Brown, who turns 26 in March, still has one year remaining on his rookie contract,” Ben Baby wrote in an ESPN article. “But after a big season, Brown is hoping to secure his long-term future with the Bengals.”

“I would love to do something and be a part of this team,” Brown said in an interview. “I don’t want to go anywhere else.”

Brown and his team are reportedly “working hard” toward an extension with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brown is coming off an impressive 2025 season with a team-high 1,456 scrimmage yards. He had 1,019 yards rushing and 437 yards receiving.

Brown started all 17 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2025. He has improved every season he has been in the NFL.

Brown’s contribution to the Cincinnati Bengals offense cannot be overlooked. ESPN’s Ben Baby wrote that Bengals Wide Receiver Tee Higgins said he talked with All-Pro Wide Receiver Ja’Maar Chase on Brown’s improvement during an interview.

“We were just saying, ‘Dude, Chase literally got better each and every single week,” Higgins said in the article. “It’s no doubt that something will happen with him. He’s got to be patient.”

“Guys like Tee and Ja’Marr, they had to wait and then they kept on getting better,” Brown said in the article. “And then they got really expensive, you know what I mean?”

Can the Cincinnati Bengals afford Chase Brown?

Cincinnati have been notorious for not extending players early. They even hesitated to pay one of the top wide receiver duos in the NFL.

“Higgins, a 2020 draft pick, played on the franchise tag in 2024 and received the designation again in 2025 before he finally received a four-year deal worth $115 million,” Baby wrote in the article. “Chase, who is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and on track to being the best receiver in franchise history, didn’t sign his massive $161 million extension until after his fourth season.”

“The Cincinnati running back said he’ll lean on those players for guidance and listen to how their experiences played out before they inked their deals on the same day last March.”

Brown is set to play the 2026 season on the final year of his rookie contract. His base salary for the 2026 season is $3.7 million, according to Spotrac.

In a loaded offense, the Bengals are looking to snap their three-year playoff drought. The team has the number 10 pick in this year’s draft.

“I know (coach Zac Taylor) and (player executive Duke Tobin) and everybody that makes those free agency decisions and drafting decisions will have the right mind and make the right decision for the team,” Brown said in the article.

There is no doubt that Cincinnati is better with Chase Brown in their backfield. He has earned an extension, but for how much? And how long?
