Bears vs. Jaguars: a smashing game or rubbish in London?

The Bears play Sunday in London, and you have to hope they won’t be so knackered after a long trip that their play against the Jaguars goes all to pot. If it does, fans might get their knickers in a twist and tell the Bears to bugger off.

In this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we asked which word will best describe the Bears’ performance. “Smashing”? “Rubbish”? Humdrum”?

Not that Jags fans have had much of any reason to be chuffed about their lads.

“The NFL sent the worst team in professional sports to play the Bears in London because why?” @AlcuinDeYork commented.

Also, we asked which Bulls newcomer you’re most looking forward to watching.

“How can we watch without a network to watch them on,” @brodyburk wrote, capturing the frustration of more than a few.

Last we asked if former White Sox star Jose Abreu — who recently signed with a Puerto Rican club for winter ball — will make it back to the big leagues.

“Thank you for the memories, Jose,” @RonaldVoigt4 wrote. “A warrior.”

On to the polls:

Upshot: Jolly good, then. That’s quite a lot of confidence in the Bears, innit?

Poll No. 2: Which Bulls newcomer are you most looking forward to watching?

Upshot: There’s something about the long, lean Buzelis that screams potential. For one thing, the dude has swagger. “He looks like he’s got some grit to his game,” @JeffreyCanalia offered, “something that is sorely lacking in the rest of the roster.”

Poll No. 3: Former White Sox star Jose Abreu, 37, just signed a deal to play winter ball in Puerto Rico. Will he make it back to the big leagues?

Upshot: At 37, Abreu has a lot of miles on him. It’s a bit sad that so few believe in him, but sad doesn’t mean wrong.
