Bears sign CB Nick McCloud

The Bears added to their cornerback depth on Monday, signing Nick McCloud to a one-year deal.

McCloud spent last season with the Giants and 49ers and has appeared in 48 games since starting off as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He spent his first season with the Bengals and has made 16 career NFL starts.

He went to Notre Dame for one season after starting his college career at North Carolina State.

If McCloud makes the Bears roster, it will be because of special teams. McCloud has appeared in at least 46% of his team’s kicking downs in all but one of his seasons. He played on special teams in a career-high 76% of the Giants’ snaps in 2023.

The Bears’ starting lineup is set at cornerback, with Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson and Kyler Gordon slotted in the three spots. Gordon plays the nickel slot cornerback position.
