The Sun-Times’ experts offer their picks for the Bears’ game Sunday at the Commanders (3:25 p.m., CBS 2):
Rick Morrissey
Commanders, 24-21: Did the bye week help or hurt a hot Caleb Williams? Will the Bears raise their game against a tougher opponent this week? Will it matter who’s playing QB for Washington? Answer: Commanders by 3. This season: 5-1.
Rick Telander
Bears, 26-23: You never know if a team will play better or worse after a bye week. Healthy or rusty, it’s a tossup. We’re going with the Bears being fit, fresh and feisty. This season: 5-1.
Scoop Jackson
Commanders, 30-22: On the same team the Bears put 36 points on (the Panthers), two weeks later the Commanders put up 40 with their backup QB. Yeah, the Bears rude awakenings might begin here. This season: 4-2.
Patrick Finley
Commanders, 27-24 (OT): Matt Eberflus has as many road wins against winning teams in his NFL head coaching career as I do. He’s also never won a road game on a Sunday, regardless of the opponent. Maybe this is the week that changes, but I need to see it first. This season: 5-1.
Jason Lieser
Bears, 20-16: The Commanders are a lot less scary with Jayden Daniels out and Marcus Mariota starting. Mariota is a solid backup, but he’s not lighting up the Bears’ defense. This season: 5-1.
Mark Potash
Bears, 27-23: With the Commanders missing defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (torn pec) and Daniels (bruised ribs) in limbo, the matchups favor the Bears — though not by much — especially with their offense improving every game. This season: 5-1.
