Bears’ Ian Cunningham interviews for Titans’ general manager job

Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham interviewed with the Titans on Sunday for their opening at general manager.

General manager Ryan Poles hired Cunningham shortly after taking the job in January 2022, though he has always been prepared to lose him. Cunningham turned down an offer from the Cardinals to become their general manager in 2023 and has interviewed with the Titans three times in the last four years.

“Not many people in any walk in life get to work with arguably one of their best friends, so for me to be able to work alongside [Poles], for him to trust me… we all knew that this was his goal,” Cunningham said in April. “I have a similar goal. But it means everything for me just to be able to work with him every single day. I know my opportunity will come. It’s been fun. It’s been a fun ride.”

As the Bears proceed in their coaching search, Poles said last week Cunningham wouldn’t be part of the interviews while he focused on his own job opportunities. If it becomes clear at some point that Cunningham is coming back to the Bears, he’ll join the interviews then.
