Bears CB Jaylon Johnson: I ‘lost my cool’ when I flipped off Packers fans

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson said he “lost my cool” when he decided to flip off a heckling Packers fan with his left hand as he was limping to the locker room in the third quarter Sunday.

After hurting his quad in the eventual 24-22 win against the rival Packers, Johnson walked toward the tunnel in the north end zone when he heard trash talk coming from the fans.

“I dunno who said it, but they was talking crazy on my way out,” he said. “Some of them were like, ‘[Screw] you … And then I lost my cool. I’ve gotta be better. But there was definitely some trash talking on the way out.”

Johnson was annoyed when Packers fans made obscene gestures towards the Bears’ team bus when they arrived at Lambeau Field.

The injury meant Johnson watched the rest of the game on television from the Bears

“I was in here panicking,” he said. “I’m glad it ended different from last time.”

Johnson played a key role in Sunday’s win, punching a fumble from the arms of Packers receiver Jayden Reed late in the first quarter that safety Jonathan Owens recovered and returned 14 yards to the Packers’ 21. The Bears scored on a four-yard D’Andre Swift run three plays later to go up 14-3.

Shortly after the game, Johnson’s account wrote on X that “I said what I said.” Johnson claimed he pays someone to run his social media account and didn’t write it himself — but he didn’t disagree with the sentiment.
