The wait is practically over for T20 cricket fans, as the IPL 2026 season launches on Saturday, March 28th, 2026.
Most sports fans have to fend for themselves when it comes to information. This has led many NFL, NHL, and especially MLB viewers to create dozens of sites dedicated to stats and analytics.
Now, the BCCI has announced a new venture to make those stats and analytics more accessible to cricket fans.
BCCI Makes Big Announcement With Google India
On March 27th, the BCCI announced its new partnership with Google Search AI Mode. According to the official IPL press release, they are seeking to improve the fan experience using Google.
“This collaboration will uplevel the fan experience by bringing an enriched and conversational cricket experience to Google Search,” the statement reads. “Using AI Mode to provide richer insights. For the first time, the TATA IPL live broadcast will be integrated with AI-powered analysis for a more immersive connection to the game.”
“Fans will now have many exciting ways to engage with the sport in conversation with AI Mode – from informative tactical analysis of ongoing games to historical deep dives of their favourite players and matches.”
The statement also offers examples of the types of things that can be searched and analyzed, all because of this new partnership.
“Throughout the season, fans will see AI-powered match insights integrated directly into the live broadcast, while also being able to access them via Search,” the statement continues. “For example, fans can engage with insights around the action as it unfolds, asking questions like: ‘What makes Bumrah the best bowler during the high-pressure overs?‘ or ‘How does Abhishek bat so fearlessly while opening the batting?”
IPL 2026 Begins With Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
RCB have gone head-to-head with Sunrisers Hyderabad 25 times since both organizations’ genesis. In those matches, RCB has 11 victories while SRH has 14.
For RCB, they will begin their 2026 season without a few familiar faces. Josh Hazlewood, Nuwan Thushara, and Yash Dayal are three bowling options that will not be available to the IPL Champions in their first match.
Fortunately, they will receive a boost once Hazelwood returns. However, that time is not yet known.
This will be the first of two clashes the squads will play this year. The other match will be on May 22nd, RCB’s final match of the tournament.
