Bay Area vandal targets Tesla Cybertruck

A vandal damaged a Tesla Cybertruck in the driveway of a residence in Novato, police said.

The crime happened before sunrise Saturday on Truman Drive, a dead-end street in the neighborhood west of Novato High School. The suspect threw a concrete chunk at a windshield, slashed the tires and used duct tape to cover a security camera, the Novato Police Department said.

Police found a handwritten note about the damage at the scene, Novato police reported. Police posted a security camera video of the incident that shows the vandal in a mask, a black hoodie and dark pants.

The vehicle owner is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. The base price of a Cybertruck is about $82,000.

Police Lt. Sophia Winter said another Tesla was vandalized the prior Saturday at the Hamilton Marketplace shopping center.

Demonstrations have been held on recurring weekends at Tesla dealerships in Marin County and around the country to protest Elon Musk, the chief executive officer of Tesla, and his management of the Department of Government Efficiency in the Trump administration.
