BART closes Hayward station as police investigate possible stabbing

HAYWARD — BART closed its Hayward station on Tuesday morning, as police investigated an incident at the station.

Few details were available, but BART officials said police detained two people after initial reports indicated there may have been a stabbing somewhere on station property.

Officials said nothing else.

BART ran trains through the station on both platforms after 11 a.m. but did not stop them. Customers were kept out of the station. BART closed the station about 10:15 a.m.

BART’s orange line from Berryessa/San Jose to Richmond and its green line from Berryessa/San Jose to Daly City both run through the Hayward station.

AC Transit honored BART tickets on lines No. 10 and No. 99 between Hayward and the Bay Fair stations and Hayward and the South Hayward stations.

BART did not have an estimate for when it would re-open the station, saying about 11:15 a.m. that the investigation continued to be “active.”

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
