Avalanche warning issued for Greater Lake Tahoe area until early Friday morning

The National Weather Service reported an avalanche warning at 5:19 a.m. on Thursday in effect until Friday at 5 a.m. for Greater Lake Tahoe area.

According to the NWS Reno NV, “The avalanche danger will be HIGH in the backcountry Thursday through early Friday morning.”

“Dangerous avalanche conditions exist in the mountains due to heavy snow, rain on snow, and strong winds. Widespread avalanche activity is very likely. Avalanches large enough to bury or injure people are expected,” the NWS said.
