Authorities identify pedestrian fatally hit on Highway 4

A pedestrian who was fatally hit by a vehicle on Highway 4 last week was a Brentwood resident, according to authorities.

Driver dead after veering off I-580 in Oakland, hitting trees

George Woodson, 55, was in the roadway of the highway near Walnut Boulevard on Oct. 17, when a person driving a black Chevrolet Avalanche hit him. The crash happened about 5:55 a.m.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office publicly identified him Monday.

The driver stayed and spoke with the California Highway Patrol. They did not make an arrest.

The CHP has not determined why Woodson was on the highway.
