Auburn Gresham fire injures 50-year-old man

A fire in Auburn Gresham sent one man to a hospital in good condition after he inhaled smoke early Thursday on the South Side.

Around 2:25 a.m., officers and firefighters responded to a residence on fire in the 8100 block of South Emerald Avenue, Chicago police said.

A 50-year-man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park for smoke inhalation, police said. He was listed in good condition.

Another person was inside at the time of the fire but they weren’t hurt, officials said. No displacements were reported.

The cause and origin were under investigated by Chicago fire department officials.
