Aryna Sabalenka’s Fiancé Georgios Defends Relationship Before French Open

For the first time since 2023, the women get the coveted night session time slot at the 2026 French Open, and it’s a blockbuster fourth-round match between Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka.

Sabalenka, the world No. 1, is looking to win her first-ever title at Roland Garros. The Belarusian star has a 2-1 career record against Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam winner.

“I’m just ready for the fight,” Sabalenka told reporters. “I’m ready to do anything it takes to get the win… I really enjoy our battles. It’s high-level matches, and I really enjoy when somebody push[es] me to the limit.”

Sabalenka punched her ticket to the fourth round after defeating Daria Kasatkina in straight sets. Cheering the 28-year-old on as she competes at Roland Garros is her future husband, Georgios Frangulis. The CEO and co-founder of Oakberry, who proposed to Sabalenka in March, attends nearly every tournament.

Georgios Frangulis Defends Attending All of Fiancée Aryna Sabalenka’s Matches While Also Managing His Business

Frangulis not only sits in the stands for Sabalenka’s matches, but he also creates blog-style videos after each tournament. The businessman, who’s also a part-owner of Le Mans FC, revealed on the Money Buys Happiness Podcast that he catches flak for always being at her tennis matches.

“For me to have someone that I love, who trusts me, looks up to me, I can teach and learn from with my fiancée… it’s all upside. I don’t see any downside. Believe me, I get [expletive].

“How can he run the company? He’s always watching tennis. You see me on TV, and I’m watching tennis — it’s a two-hour match, you know? Like I was doing a meeting before, I’m gonna do another after. It’s not your [expletive] business what I’m doing.”

“She’s super accomplished,” he says of the four-time Grand Slam champion. “We can enjoy each other’s successes. Help each other’s failures.”

Georgios Frangulis Loves Seeing Fiancée Aryna Sabalenka Being Her ‘Authentic’ Self on the Court

GettyAryna Sabalenka’s fiance Georgios Frangulis is her No. 1 fan.

While Sabalenka gets backlash for her fiery and emotional reactions during tennis matches, Frangulis believes that’s what makes her special.

“People know when you’re being authentic, being your true self,” Frangulis told Vogue in a profile story published earlier this month. “There’s always going to be something tricky in a match, because Aryna’s going to say what she feels. And she’s going to do the same on Instagram and TikTok. That makes her special.

“But I’ve always told her that to stay composed, she has to try to attach herself to the facts, to what is actually happening, and not to what’s coming to her mind. And the fact is that she’s the best in the game, and she can always handle it, always jump back and get it done. It’s not about erasing those emotions. It’s about using them in her favor—making it one of her superpowers instead of her kryptonite.”
