All of Clear Creek County without power Thursday morning, sheriff says

All of Clear Creek County is without power Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

As of 7:45 a.m., Xcel Energy reported five outages in the county impacting 5,378 customers, according to the utility’s outage map. Power is expected to be restored around 10 a.m. Thursday, according to Xcel.

The early morning outages, which started around 3 a.m., impacted all homes, businesses, schools and government offices, according to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office. Each building is one “customer” on the outage map.

Sheriff’s officials said people should expect delays and closures in the outage areas, including Idaho Springs, Evergreen, Silver Plume, Golden, Black Hawk, Russell Gulch, Empire, Dumont, Lawson, Georgetown and Central City.

The cause of the power outages was unknown as of 7:45 a.m. Thursday, sheriff’s officials said.
