The most diverse weekend of the winter is here for Go & Show, including three significant ice events. The ice events are a go as of this writing Thursday morning. If anything changes in that regard, I will update here.
- For many years, I could not attend the Chicago Travel & Adventure Show because it was almost always on the same weekend as the charity bowling event, Beat the Champs, which I covered for the Sun-Times for decades. But in recent years, I can make it and it has become one of my favorites. The Chicago Travel & Adventure Show is Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 1-2, at Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.
- The All-Canada Show opens today and runs through Sunday, Jan. 30-Feb. 2, at the Kane County Fairgrounds in. St. Charles.
- As I type, the LVVA Ice Fishing Derby is on for Friday to Sunday, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, on Bangs Lake in Wauconda. The lake will be rechecked again today before a final decision is made. The veteran’s organization this year is Veterans Path to Hope Outdoors.
- The Rockford Boat, Vacation & Fishing Show is Friday-Sunday, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, at the Indoor Sports Center in Loves Park.
- This is the intense weekend for salmon/trout anglers with the Captain Dan Keating Salmon Schools at the Lake Michigan Angler in Winthrop Harbor.
- The Midwest Musky Club Fishing & Outdoor Show is 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Village Sportsman’s Club in Alsip.
- The Island Lake Lions Club Ice Fishing Derby is on for Saturday, Feb. 1, on Island Lak with the headquarters at Eastway Park.
-
- The Wonder Lake Sportsmand & Conservation 38th Annual Ice Fishing Derby is 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2. For questions and information, contact Dave at (815) 276-4738.
