ALAMEDA
The Kiwanis Club of Alameda (KCA) had another successful annual fundraising event earlier this month, raising $20,000 for Alameda nonprofit groups serving children and their families at the Kiwanis Chili Cookoff 2025.
More than 180 guests enjoyed the chili tastings, silent and live auction items, three-meat barbecue catered by Back Forty, Western dancing by Dance 10, a raffle for high-value items and dancing to music by The Lost Cats band. The chili tastings resulted in the following vote results: First place went to Park Street Tavern (Chris’s chili); second place to William Han (no-bean chili); and third place to Kelly Lux State Farm (Jake’s chili).
All auction items sold out, no one left hungry and all had great fun. A big thank-you from the KCA goes to all their merchants, community members and fellow Kiwanians who generously donated baskets and gift certificates for the fundraiser.
