Alabama Lands Just One First-Round Pick in 2027 NFL Mock Draft as Notable Names Are Left Out

The 2026 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the Alabama Crimson Tide saw 10 former players selected at the event hosted in Pittsburgh.

Despite the draft just now concluding, it is never too early to take a peek at the way-too-early mock draft for the 2027 cycle.

Curt Popejoy of DraftWire released the first installment of his 2027 NFL mock draft, and there were some shocking details involving current Alabama football stars.

Alabama DB Zabien Brown Goes Top-10 Overall

One aspect of the mock draft involved rising true junior cornerback, Zabien Brown. Popejoy projects Brown to be selected No. 10 overall by the New York Giants.

Brown has put together an impressive first two seasons in Tuscaloosa and has shown a knack for making impact plays.

Zabien Brown’s Most Impactful Plays for Alabama

In 2024, as a true freshman, he intercepted Georgia quarterback Carson Beck in the final moments of the fourth quarter to preserve Alabama’s upset victory over the Bulldogs.

Brown followed that up with a spectacular sophomore season, securing two pick-sixes that were major turning points in each game.

The first came against Tennessee as he picked off Joey Aguilar and took in 99-yards to the house as the first half ended.

The second came in the first round of the College Football Playoff matchup in Norman against the Oklahoma Sooners. With the Tide trailing 17-10 late in the first half, Brown picked off John Mateer to tie the game up, helping Alabama secure a win.

Which Alabama Star Players Were Left Out of Mock Draft?

You could make a strong case for several Alabama players to appear in early mock drafts, but the most surprising omissions from Popejoy’s projection are Ryan Coleman-Williams and Yhonze Pierre.

Coleman-Williams is one of the most athletically gifted players in all of college football. While he struggled with drops during his sophomore season, he still showed that he is a big-play waiting to happen.

With a strong junior season, I expect “Hollywood” to work his way back into the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft.

For Pierre, it is really shocking given the fact that NFL teams love prospects who can affect the opposing team’s quarterback, and that is exactly what Yhonze does best. Despite not earning a starting spot until week four for Alabama, Pierre secrued 9 sacks on 45 pressures according to PFF.

If he can follow up the 2025 season with another stat-stuffing performance in 2026, I expect NFL teams to be drooling over the pass-rushing specialists.
