A Bears-Packers upset on Sunday? But seriously, folks

The Bears have lost 10 straight games to the Packers. They’ve lost 15 of the last 16, 19 of the last 21 and 23 of the last 26.

Other than that, the rivalry has been up for grabs.

In this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we asked which team will win Sunday at Soldier Field: the Bears or those incredibly annoying dudes in the gold pants. Let’s just say voters weren’t confident about an upset happening.

“The Packers OWN the Bears via Aaron Rodgers,” @JBIRD1268 commented, citing a player who seems awfully busy losing games in New York.

Next, we asked if a Bears win would wipe away the frustrations fans have about this team.

“If we win and score 40, it would be huge,” @PorscheJeff wrote. “If we win and score 17, it would be great but I’m still depressed.”

Last, we asked what’s been the key to the Packers’ ridiculously dominant run against the Bears. Better QBs? Better coaches? Better — year after stinkin’ year — from top to bottom?

“Dumb luck,” @davesned wrote, tossing in an expletive about “them cheeseheads.”

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: The Packers visit the Bears on Sunday. Who wins?

It’s time for this week’s “Polling Place.” Let us hear from you! Selected comments will appear in Sunday’s paper.

Upshot: If one team pretty much never wins, do we have to keep pretending this is a great NFL rivalry? Relax, it was only a question.

Poll No. 2: Would a Bears win against the Packers erase your frustrations as a fan?

Upshot: The voting says a lot, and what it says is that Bears watchers aren’t suckers. What ails this team — this organization — runs much deeper than whatever happens on any given Sunday. That includes this Sunday, which, let’s face it, most likely will end in yet another Bears defeat.

Poll No. 3: What has been the key to the Packers’ decades-long dominance against the Bears?

Upshot: “Everything” is a big word, but it fits. Honestly, is there anything about the Bears’ side of things that’s better? No, giardiniera in the parking lot doesn’t count.
