407 flights canceled, delayed at DIA Thursday as more snow hits Denver

At least 407 flights were canceled or delayed Thursday at Denver International Airport as more snow fell across Colorado.

As of 11:45 a.m., 355 flights at DIA had been delayed and 52 were canceled, according to data from the flight tracking company FlightAware.

American Airlines had the most flight cancellations with 14, followed by Southwest with 12 and United with 12. SkyWest, which runs United Express, had eight cancelations and Frontier had six, FlightAware data shows.

United had 109 flights delayed. Southwest had 90 and SkyWest had 81.

The National Weather Service warned of hazardous winter conditions, reporting light snow and wind at the airport after early morning fog and mist cleared. NWS forecasters said patchy snow and blowing snow is possible through Thursday with overnight wind chills as low as minus 5 degrees.

DIA snow teams were clearing runways and plowing roads. “Passengers may have to wait an additional 10 to 15 minutes on the plane while the aircraft de-ices before takeoff,” airport officials said in an email advising travelers to be inside the airport at least two hours before their scheduled boarding times.
