$31 Million Super Bowl Champion Teases Potential Rams Interest

Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams have enough to sort through on their roster, and any measures that simplify the processes needed to improve the group are surely welcomed. To that end, the latest message from Sebastian Joseph-Day is encouraging.

LA is in good shape financially and in terms of draft assets.

There is still a lot of legwork to do in fine-tuning a list of potential targets, though, and Joseph-Day is someone the Rams already know well.

Sebastian Joseph-Day Sends Message About Rams

GettySebastian Joseph-Day #69 of the Los Angeles Rams warms up before Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Joseph-Day is coming off a one-year, $6.5 million contract with the Tennessee Titans, with $31.4 million in career earnings and a Super Bowl victory with the Rams on his resume before free agency.

A fan tagged the former Rams sixth-round pick (No. 195 overall in 2018) in a post saying they missed having the veteran in LA. He responded in kind.

“miss the rams too [looking eyes and sheep/ram emoji],” Joseph-Day posted on February 5.

The origin of the fan’s claim was another’s praise for Joseph-Day’s proven ability as a run-stuffer. Football Insights charted him as the seventh-best run-stopping interior defensive lineman over the 2024 and 2025 seasons

Joseph-Day, who turns 31 in March, officially tallied 41 total tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery with the Titans this past season.

Joseph-Day has also played for the LA Chargers and San Francisco 49ers so far in his career.

Spotrac projects Joseph-Day could command a one-year deal worth $6.8 million this offseason.

LA ranked 17th overall defensively, finishing 12th against the run and 19th against the pass. That, among several other key factors, could suggest the Rams should allocate their resources to other needs than a depth-option run defender.

There are already strong indicators that the Rams’ front office will look to do exactly that this offseason

Rams Aggressive Roster Plan Might Not Include IDL

GettyLos Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead looks on before a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rams general manager Les Snead spoke candidly about the front office taking an aggressive approach to building out their roster this offseason, which could bode well for a player like Joseph-Day.

However, the Rams are deep along their interior defensive line.

Starters Braden Fiske and Kobie Turner are difference-makers. Nose tackle Poona Ford is undersized but stout and active. They also have 2024 sixth-round pick Tyler Davis, 2025 fifth-rounder Ty Hamilton, 2024 seventh-round selection Desjuan Johnson, and Larrell Murchison, a fifth-round pick by the Titans in 2020.

Moreover, Snead has said that the Rams look to address their cornerback group this offseason.

“It’ll be a position group that we’ll attack over the next few weeks, few months,” Snead told reporters on February 4.

And then, there is the elephant in the room that is Matthew Stafford’s future. Stafford is under contract with the Rams through next season, but there is speculation he could seek more money to return. He is set to earn $40 million in 2026.

No matter the outcome, the Rams’ decision on Stafford will dictate how they operate elsewhere on the roster, let alone with outside options like Joseph-Day, this coming offseason.

Still, the Rams can be sure there is at least cursory interest from Joseph-Day in a return to LA.
