2-Year New York Mets Player Officially Released By Current MLB Team

On Thursday, the New York Mets finished their series with the Cleveland Guardians in Ohio.

They won by a score of 13-6 (and completed a three-game sweep).

Also on Thursday, news came out that a former Mets player had been released by the Minnesota Twins.

MLB.com wrote (on August 6): “St. Paul Saints released RHP Grant Hartwig.”

Hartwig did not appear in a game for the Twins.

He had been with their Triple-A affiliate.

Hartwig went 5-3 with a 6.30 ERA in 34 Triple-A games this year.

Hartwig has spent his only two seasons at the MLB level with the Mets.

In 2023, the 28-year-old went 5-2 with a 4.84 ERA in 28 games.

Theodore Tollefson of Zone Coverage had written (on December 4, 2025): “The #MNTwins have signed RHP Grant Hartwig to a Minor League deal. Hartwig pitched 32 games for the Mets between 2023-2024, and had a 5.14 ERA, 34 Ks, 19 BBs, and 1.40 WHIP in 42 IP. He spent all of 2025 in Triple-A and had a 3.42 ERA in 23.2 IP”
