Two teenage boys are facing charges in connection the February fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy while he was sitting in the back of an SUV in Commerce City.
A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old boy are facing charges for possession of a handgun by a juvenile and providing a firearm to a juvenile in the Feb. 10 shooting in the 5800 block of Tichy Boulevard, according to a press release from the Commerce City Police Department.
The gun used in the shooting was one of several the pair acquired by stealing them during car break-ins, according to the news release. The teens also are believed to have traded some of the stolen guns.
The 16-year-old who is facing charges for providing a weapon was among the four who were in the SUV at the time of the fatal shooting. Another of the boys in the vehicle was previously arrested on second-degree murder and possession of a handgun as a minor charges. That teen now faces manslaughter charges, according to the Friday release.
None of the arrested teens have been identified because they are minors.
