2 injured in accident at music venue on Lower West Side

Two people were injured in an accident at a music venue on the Lower West Side on Saturday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred about 1:20 a.m. in the 600 block of West Cermak Road, Chicago police said.

Responding officers learned that two people, a 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were injured in an “accident” inside the building, police said. The man suffered injuries to his shoulder and neck, and the woman suffered a cut to the back of her head.

Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said. Authorities didn’t say what type of accident caused their injuries.

Live music venue Radius Chicago is located at 640 W. Cermak. The band Levity, which was performing at the venue, said in an Instagram story that their set had to be cut short after “something of the venue fell from the roof,” describing the incident as a “freak accident.”

Police and fire officials did not immediately respond to multiple requests for more information.

Representatives of Radius Chicago did not immediately answer phone calls.

The Chicago Fire Department is investigating.
