2 hurt in West Garfield Park shooting

Two men were wounded, one of them critically, in a shooting Friday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The men, ages 30 and 36, were standing on the sidewalk in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street around 4:25 p.m. when four people exited a white sedan and opened fire, police said in a statement.

The younger man was shot in his thigh and calf and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, police said. The older man suffered eight gunshot wounds and took himself to the same hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said the shooters were last seen driving west on Monroe.
