2 fatally shot, woman stabbed at nearby bar minutes later in ‘separate’ Gage Park attacks, police say

Two people were found dead and a woman was stabbed at a bar Sunday night in what Gage Park on the Southwest Side.

Officers responded to calls of a person shot just before 10 p.m. at an apartment in the 5300 block of South Kedzie Avenue, Chicago police said.

The back door of the apartment was open and a 57-year-old man and 64-year-old woman were both found shot, police said.

The man was shot in the head and the woman was shot multiple times in the body, officials said. Both were dead at the scene.

About five minutes later, a 57-year-old man armed with a gun and knife attacked a woman in the back of a bar on the same block, authorities said.

The man approached a 37-year-old man outside the bar before following him inside and stabbing the woman, police said.

The woman suffered multiple cuts to her body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was in good condition, officials said.

The 57-year-old was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered.

Area 1 detectives are investigating the attacks as separate incidents.
