Two Chicago police officers were among four people injured in a crash Wednesday night in the Austin neighborhood.
The officers, who were responding to a call, were driving in an unmarked vehicle with lights and sirens activated in the 4800 block of West North Avenue about 9:30 p.m. when they were struck by a gray minivan turning onto Cicero Avenue, police said.
The unmarked car then hit a gray sedan, which struck a black pickup truck stopped at the red light, officials said. A wheel that came off of the minivan struck a squad car that was also at a red light.
The two officers, both men, were taken to area hospitals where they were in good condition, authorities said. A 23-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man in the gray sedan were both taken to Stroger Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the minivan, a 39-year-old man, declined medical treatment, police said.
Traffic citations were pending.
