14-year-old boy arrested in connection with fatal Dayton light rail station shooting

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in February at the Regional Transportation District’s Dayton Station in Greenwood Village.

The teen, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, was arrested on Feb. 20 after law enforcement officials watched him for several days, according to a Feb. 26 release by the Greenwood Village Police Department. The release did not say what charges the suspect was arrested on.

Officials said they are still looking for additional suspects involved with the homicide.

Greenwood Village Police responded to reports of shots fired at the light rail station on Feb. 11. When officers arrived at the station, they found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot and another victim injured from “an apparent assault,” according to a Feb. 12 news release.

Paramedics took both victims to the hospital, where the 17-year-old died from his injuries.

Witnesses said they saw several people running away from the scene, but none have been publicly identified.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the shooting or assault has been asked to contact Greenwood Village police department investigators at 303-486-8275.
