The Buffalo Bills might make some significant moves during the NFL draft, aiming to trade up into the first round to snag one of the top players available. One possibility could be grabbing another wide receiver, such as Jordyn Tyson from Arizona State.
NFL Writer Names Dalton Kincaid as Bills’ Top Trade Asset
Buffalo has the 26th pick, and they may need to part ways with a player to move up into the first round. According to John Kosko from Pro Football Focus, tight end Dalton Kincaid could be the Bills’ most valuable trade asset.
“The Bills don’t have many obvious trade candidates as they push for another Super Bowl run, but Kincaid stands out as a potential option. He is coming off a career-high 86.8 PFF overall grade in 2025 and is entering the final year of his rookie deal, positioning himself for a significant extension,” Kosko wrote on Monday.
“Kincaid is a polished route runner with reliable hands, and he has consistently earned strong receiving grades. However, with holes across the roster on both sides of the ball, Buffalo could benefit from turning one premium asset into multiple contributors. Trading Kincaid would allow the Bills to recoup significant draft capital to address those needs. His youth and production would make him one of the most attractive options on a relatively thin tight end market.”
The Bills selected Kincaid in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Utah, but his first three seasons have been somewhat underwhelming. Through 41 games, Kincaid has 156 receptions for 1,692 yards and nine scores.
Buffalo has a significant decision to make this offseason regarding whether to pick up Kincaid’s fifth-year option. Since Kincaid was selected in the first round, the Bills have the opportunity to exercise this option, which would take effect during the 2027 season. However, Buffalo needs to make this decision this offseason if it wants to secure that option. Currently, Kincaid is under a four-year, $13 million contract, which will expire at the end of this season.
If the Bills are considering trading Kincaid, it will likely take place before the draft. This timing would allow Buffalo to identify the position it needs to target.
Kincaid Had a Rough Moment in Buffalo
One of Kincaid’s biggest moments in his career came during the 2024-25 season in the AFC title game against the Chiefs. Kansas City was leading 32-29 with just two minutes left in the fourth quarter, with the Bills positioned at their own 47-yard line. On fourth down and five, Josh Allen threw a pass to Kincaid, but he was unable to make the catch, ultimately ending the Bills’ season.
Allen defended Kincaid after the game, making sure no one blamed the loss on him.
“I got to be better for him. I didn’t feel like I put him in enough good situations this year, ball-placement-wise,” Allen said, via ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg. “He can sit there and think about that play over and over, but I got to be better for him. That’s what it comes down to, and get him more involved. I know he’s been battling throughout the entire year, bumps and bruises and probably games that he shouldn’t have played he was in, but he’s a tough sucker, and I got nothing but love for him, how he’s approached this year. He’s going to be so much better next year. Let his body heal up, and I’m going to be better, better for him, and I can promise you that.”
