1 dead after motorcycle loses control, crashes into guardrail on Aurora’s Smoky Hill Road

A woman is dead after a fatal Friday night crash on Aurora’s Smoky Hill Road.

Aurora officers responded to reports of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Smoky Hill Road and Tufts Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Friday, the police department said in a statement on social media. The intersection lies just south of Quincy Avenue.

Police said the woman — who has not been identified — lost control of her motorcycle and crashed into the guardrail. The crash sent the woman flying from her motorcycle and she died from her injuries at the scene.

The woman was likely speeding at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles were involved, police said.
