1 dead, 4 injured in high-speed collision on U.S. 287

U.S. 287 is shut down just south of Oxford Road due to a fatal crash.

According to Mountain View Fire Rescue’s Facebook post, one person is confirmed to have died in the crash and four people have been transported to the hospital.

Two people at the scene have declined treatment, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue spokesman Rick Tillery.

At 1:14 p.m., a call came into dispatch that multiple cars were involved in a high- speed head-on collision involving five vehicles, said Tillery.

Colorado State Patrol and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the crash and Erie Police Department is on the scene, to assist with traffic control.

U.S. 287 may be closed to traffic in both directions for an extended period of time for investigation and clean-up purposes, according to the post.
