1 dead, 1 hurt after argument sparks exchange of gunfire Auburn Gresham

An argument sparked an exchange of gunfire early Monday that left one man dead and a woman wounded in Auburn Gresham early Monday, police said.

Police responded to the 1800 block of West 83rd Street around 2 a.m. and found a 63-year-old man shot multiple times in the chest.

He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Chicago police, while the 58-year-old woman was shot twice in the leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she is in fair condition.

The two were shot during an argument between the man and another man, police said. Both of the men drew guns and fired shots.

The other man wasn’t injured and was taken into custody. Charges are pending.
