A person was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday near Illinois State University in downstate Normal.
Around 3:45 a.m., officers were breaking up a “large party” in the 300 block of North Main Street when they heard gunfire, according to the Normal Police Department.
Officers then responded to the 300 block of North University where they found two people struck by gunfire, police said.
They were taken to area hospitals where one of the people struck by gunfire was pronounced dead, officials said. The other person was in critical condition.
