Who Is the Woman Meghan Markle’s Accused of Copying for Her Netflix Show Emma, Marchioness of Bath?

<p id=”par-1_59″>Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that the trailer for <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/meghan-markle/?swcfpc=1″>Meghan Markle</a>‘s new <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/netflix/”>Netflix</a> lifestyle show has been released. Reactions to the one-minute, 40-second clip <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/tv-host-3-stinging-words-out-of-touch-meghan-markle-netflix-show.html/?swcfpc=1″>have been mixed</a> with the Duchess of Sussex’s fans declaring that they “can’t wait” to watch it, while those who aren’t fans of Meghan are giving it a hard pass. </p>

<p id=”par-2_34″>But as opinions were being aired out, some eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Meghan’s ideas were very similar to another part Nigerian woman who married a British aristocrat and also had a cooking show. </p>

<p id=”par-4_55″>Emma Clare Thynn (nee McQuiston), Marchioness of Bath also known as Emma Weymouth was born on March 26, 1986, in London. She is the daughter of a Nigerian father, Chief Oladipo Jadesimi, who is an oil billionaire and the executive chairman of Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Company, and her mother, Suzanna McQuiston, who is an English socialite.</p>

<p id=”par-5_45″>Emma married Ceawlin Thynn, 8th Marquess of Bath and became the first Black marchioness in British history. The couple welcomed two children together. Their oldest John Alexander Ladi Thynn, Viscount Weymouth was born in October 2014 followed by another son, Lord Henry Richard Isaac Thynn, in December 2016.</p>

<p id=”par-6_45″>Emma studied art history at University College London and classical acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She’s also done modeling and walked in the runway show for Dolce & Gabbana. In addition, she worked as a fashion editor for a handful of publications.</p>

The marchioness founded the food and lifestyle brand <em><a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrV7mQQ1iHw” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Emma’s Kitchen</a></em> in 2015 and launched her show in which she did live demonstrations. In 2024, she competed on Season 19 of <em>Celebrity MasterChef</em>.</p>

<p id=”par-8_39″>While you may not have seen Emma’s cooking show, it appears Meghan has and took quite a few ideas. That’s according to the many X users who responded to Netflix Nigeria’s post for the <em>With Love, Meghan</em> trailer. </p>

<p id=”par-9_17″>“This woman has no original idea!” one person posted, adding, “This is a copy of<em> Emma’s Kitchen</em>.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_44″>A second person chimed in: “Meghan is caught copying Lady Emma. Netflix please give Lady Emma, The Marchioness of Bath her own cooking show. She also participated in Masterchef UK!! She’s Nigerian, she’s beautiful, genuine and talented cook. She’s an all around family-oriented woman.”</p>

<p id=”par-11_44″>And another user <a href=”https://x.com/Lola45947263095/status/1875642972664193073″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>shared side-by-side photos</a> of the Duchess of Sussex even wearing outfits very similar to the Marchioness of Bath and writing that Emma is “stunning, stylish, classy, and not lying about being Nigerian. She’s also the creator Markle stole content from.” </p>

<p id=”par-12_95″>Moreover, the <a href=”https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14246497/Meghan-Markle-Netflix-comparisons-Kate-Middleton.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Daily Mail</a> blared a headline that read: “So where DID you get your ideas from Meghan? Viewers spot all the scenes in Duchess’ new cookery show that feel familiar — from Marchioness of Bath to ladybug Bruschetta and Kate.” The outlet suggested that not only did <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/prince-harry-was-able-to-marry-meghan-markle-because-she-didnt-do-this-1-thing-in-her-past.html/”>Harry’s wife</a> rip off ideas from Emma but also her sister-in-law, Kate, when it comes to beekeeping as one viewer said: “You know who keeps bees? Princess Catherine at her home in Amner Hall. It’s one of her passions. Meghan has never had an original idea ever.”</p>
