<p id=”par-1_36″>Cam Newton made headlines for years when he was the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/sports/”>quarterback</a> for the Carolina Panthers and later the New England Patriots. But the former <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/nfl/”>NFL</a> <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/celebrity-athletes/”>MVP</a> also made news for his life off the field. </p>
<p id=”par-2_40″>Newton has several children by a few different women and has his reason for not settling down and marrying any of them. Here’s more on Newton’s views on marriage and his current partner, Jasmin Brown, who you may recognize. </p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-brown-is-an-actor-and-comedian”>Brown is an actor and comedian</h2>
<p id=”par-3_30″>Brown, who also goes by the name “Watch Jazzy,” was born in 1989 to a Jamaican father and Trinidadian mother in Takoma Park, Maryland, but grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. </p>

<p id=”par-4_58″>She became interested in acting and comedy at an early age and during an interview with <a href=”https://roughdraftatlanta.com/2023/03/10/in-conversation-with-actress-and-stand-up-jasmin-brown/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rough Draft Atlanta</a>, she explained: “I would get an allowance every week for doing my chores, and I would buy wigs and props and things, to turn myself into a different character. From there, the personalities were like, subconsciously being created, you know?</p>
<p id=”par-5_60″>“I would do photo shoots in these alter egos and things like that. Even like my Barbies and baby dolls, they all had different personalities. They all had different voices. I’ve always just been a character. But I never thought it was anything special or unique until I probably got to high school and people thought I was so funny.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_54″>Brown was featured in the Tyler Perry-created <em>Sistas </em>spinoff <em>Zatima </em>and had a <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/actors/”>starring role</a> in <em>Caught Up</em>. She’s also a stand-up comedian playing the character Toya Turnup. At one point the character had become so popular that Brown would open a comedy show as herself, have another act come out, and then headline the show as Turnup.</p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-how-many-children-newton-and-brown-have”>How many children Newton and Brown have</h2>
<p id=”par-7_39″>She and Newton have been together since 2021 and made their first public debut at Milan Fashion Week the following year. Then in March 2024, they welcomed their first child together. Newton is now a father of eight. </p>

<p id=”par-8_70″>The athlete fathered four children with his ex Kia Proctor. Their oldest son, Chosen Sebastian Newton, was born on Dec. 24, 2015. They welcomed their daughter, Sovereign-Dior Cambella Newton, in February 2017. Their second son, Camidas Swain Newton, was born in November 2018 followed by their fourth child, Cashmere Saint Newton in December 2019. He also has a child named Caesar Lorenzo Newton, who arrived in 2019, with photographer LaReina Shaw. </p>
<p id=”par-9_25″>In addition to his biological children with Proctor, the former quarterback raised her daughter, Shakira, from a previous relationship, and Shaw’s oldest son, Jayden. </p>
<p id=”par-10_40″>Despite being in long relationships and fathering children with the women, Newton has stated in several interviews that while he takes care of all his children and is present in their lives he’s not ready to commit to marriage. </p>
<p id=”par-11_40″>During an episode of his <a href=”https://youtu.be/Y0myxTh6YVQ” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”><em>Funky Friday</em> podcast</a> with life coach Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, Newton again stated that he doesn’t want to commit to a woman through matrimony saying: “My desire to get married is lower than my fear of divorce.”</p>
