Unnamed ‘Celebrity B’ in Jay-Z and Diddy Case Is ‘Lawyering Up,’ Criminal Defense Lawyer Says

Jay-Z‘s name is officially associated with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ alleged criminal activity. According to a plaintiff, Jay-Z raped them in 2000 when they were 13 years old. Combs and another woman — unnamed “Celebrity B” — were allegedly present, with Combs assaulting the girl after Jay-Z. While “Celebrity B” has yet to be named, a criminal defense lawyer says there’s no doubt they’ve already lawyered up.

‘Celebrity B,’ the unnamed woman in the case against Jay-Z, is likely ‘lawyering up’

Jay-Z found himself in hot water after accusations emerged in December 2024. According to the accuser, Jay-Z raped them in 2000 at an MTV VMA afterparty. Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces charges on racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, allegedly took part in the assault. Another unnamed woman — “Celebrity B” — allegedly witnessed the event and did not try to stop it.

Criminal defense lawyer Julia Jayne told <a href=”https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/jay-z-diddy-accusations-create-mystery-surrounding-female-celebrity-b” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Fox News Digital that while “Celebrity B” remains unnamed, they’re likely “lawyering up” in light of the case.

“Likely, that celebrity’s name will come out, but no celebrity wants to be associated with this case, even as a witness,” Jayne said. “It would be negative publicity.”

Defense attorney Oleg Nekritin added that attorneys “will advise the celebrity that they have to fight like hell, first quietly, and then if named, loudly,” as “being accused of aiding and abetting or participating in a sexual assault of a minor is terrible for one’s reputation and career.” Nekritin noted that the public sees a celebrity settling as “implicit admission of misconduct.” Celebrities dragged into the case “will look to fight and protect their name.”

Criminal defense lawyer Lauren Johnson-Norris also spoke to Fox News Digital. According to Johnson-Norris, “Celebrity B” might already have spoken to the plaintiff. “It is to be seen if Celebrity B will say she was there on her own free will, or if she was a victim as well,” the lawyer continued.

Jay-Z publicly denied the serious allegations against him by the currently unnamed plaintiff. In a public statement, Jay-Z said lawyer Tony Buzbee and the client sent him a “blackmail attempt.” Buzbee posted on <a href=”https://x.com/TonyBuzbee2/status/1865928354114814391?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1865928354114814391%7Ctwgr%5E61283b8842c90c41eebb67f2ac4bf08e862c742b%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fentertainment%2Fjay-z-diddy-accusations-create-mystery-surrounding-female-celebrity-b” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>X that Jay-Z tried to “silence” his clients and “bully and harass” him.

“What he fails to say in his recent statement is my firm sent his lawyer a demand letter on behalf of an alleged victim and that victim never demanded a penny from him,” Buzbee posted. “Instead, she only sought a confidential mediation. Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve.”

The public wants to know the celebrities named in connection to the Sean “Diddy” Combs case. Lawyer Tony Buzbee told <a href=”https://www.tmz.com/2024/10/07/diddy-indictment-lawyer-tony-buzbee-says-more-celebs-being-sued/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>TMZ Live he has to remain careful when naming celebrities beyond Combs.

“But, we want to make sure that if we name individuals beyond Mr. Combs, that we make sure that we’ve done our homework, because it’s going to create a firestorm,” Buzbee explained. “We understand that. We’re going to make sure that we dot our I’s and cross our T’s.”
