Teresa and Joe Giudice’s legal troubles, crumbling marriage, and divorce offered the network more than a few storylines. If we are being honest, the couple and their strained familial relationships always seemed a bit too intense. We might have just learned why. <p id=”par-2_49″>You might assume that the Giudices and the Gorgas became close after Teresa married into the Giudice family, but that was not the case. The former couple’s parents had been close friends for decades before they tied the knot. Joe Giudice and his ex-wife quite literally grew up together.</p>

<p id=”par-3_85″>He appeared on <em><a href=”https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/joe-giudice-tells-all-uncensored-unfiltered/id1554996153?i=1000686957097″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>All About TRH</a></em> in January and opened up about his strained relationship with his ex-brother-in-law, as well as <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/rhonj-joe-giudice-joe-melissa-gorga-helped-fbi-fraud-case.html/”>Joe Gorga’s grudge</a> against him. During the interview, Joe Giudice let it slip that his father and ex-father-in-law were friends before moving from Italy to New Jersey. He said the families did everything together, and his mother and Teresa’s mother hung out all the time. The kids did, too. Joe Giudice said he’s known both Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga since they were born.</p>

<p id=”par-4_82″>Joe and Teresa Giudice knew each other for decades before tying the knot. If it had worked out, it would have made an incredible love story. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be. While Joe Giudice once said he didn’t think he’d have <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/joe-giudice-believes-rhonj-ruined-marriage-teresa-giudice.html/”>ended up divorced</a> if the couple hadn’t found fame on <em>The Real Housewives of New Jersey, </em>he has sung a much different tune in the past. He once suggested that the marriage shouldn’t have ever happened in the first place.</p>

<p id=”par-5_116″>During one particularly tense phone call with his then-wife, while he was being detained, Joe Giudice admitted he had never wanted to marry her in the first place. Bravo’s cameras captured the standoff. Teresa, who seemed pretty into her then-husband during the early seasons of the reality TV series, apparently had misgivings, too. Teresa once admitted she tried to call off <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/rhonj-melissa-gorga-done-protecting-teresa-giudice-joe-never-wanted-wedding.html/”>the wedding </a>a week before. Joe, then her fiance, had requested she sign a prenup. She refused until her mother told her to go through with it. More recently, she’s suggested that her marriage to the former TV personality was never right and that her current union with Luis Ruelas is the real deal, instead.</p>
