Royal Insider Shares How Prince William and Prince Harry Celebrated Mother’s Day After Princess Diana’s Death

Mother’s Day in the U.K. and U.S. are celebrated on different dates. That’s because they were initially two different holidays.

In Britain, the day is also known as Mothering Sunday and it takes place on the fourth Sunday of Lent, so it usually falls towards the end of March or beginning of April. It was traditionally a day in which Christians were encouraged to visit their “mother church.” But over the years, the day has become better associated with family get-togethers and children working or living away from home to visit their mothers.

Now, we’re learning how the most famous family in the U.K. celebrates the holiday including what Prince William and Prince Harry always did after their mom, Princess Diana’s death.

And while the Duke of Sussex doesn’t live in Britain anymore, Stooks believes he “definitely still marks Mother’s Day for her.”

The former gardener added that along with the flowers “there would also of course be cards. We have seen in recent years that William and Kate and his family still often write cards to his mother on special occasions.”
