<p id=”par-1_73″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/marvel/”>Marvel</a> brought back a few <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/daredevil-born-again-cast-want-upcoming-disney-series.html/”>cast members we hoped to see</a> on the Disney + show <em>Daredevil: Born Again</em>. However, so far it remains unclear if Rosario Dawson will be revisiting the series anytime soon. She was known for playing nurse Claire Temple in the original Marvel shows that streamed through Netflix. Despite having a very important role on the show, however, Claire’s ending left a lot to be desired for the actor.</p>

<p id=”par-2_60″>Dawson didn’t know much about her character Claire Temple when she was initially cast in <em>Daredevil</em>. Initially, she was under the impression that she’d be playing someone with superpowers since she was going to be in a Marvel show. When she found out Claire was simply a nurse, however, she couldn’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed by her character.</p>
<p id=”par-3_38″>“I remember when I first took on this character, I was like, ‘I don’t know, I really wanted to have a radioactive spider situation. I’m just a nurse? Really?! Okay,’” Dawson once said in an interview with <a href=”https://collider.com/rosario-dawson-unforgettable-the-defenders-interview/”>Collider</a>.</p>

<p id=”par-4_60″>However, her perspective quickly changed. She quickly found out Claire wasn’t an average nurse, and she became the go-to medical expert for injured superheroes. Incidentally, Claire would also become the glue that brought Daredevil’s street-level superhero team together. It took no time at all before Claire developed a strong fanbase of her own, which only flattered the <em>Death Proof </em>star.</p>
<p id=”par-5_89″>“Everybody loves their Daredevil and Luke Cage, but it’s really fun seeing people go, ‘Claire Temple is my favorite character ‘cause she’s a real person and she’s got real skills, and if it wasn’t for her, they’d all have been dead, a long time ago,’” Dawson said. “I keep thinking my character should walk on set and just go, ‘You’re welcome!’ Every time they do something amazing, she should go, ‘And you’re welcome, ‘cause you wouldn’t have done that, had I not fixed you.’ I think it’s really great.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_23″>However, Claire’s time on the show would soon come to an end. Her character would leave the series in a somewhat anti-climactic way.</p>
<p id=”par-7_32″>“You don’t even see her in that last tell Claire to go home’ moment on <em>Luke Cage</em>,”<em> </em>Dawson said in an interview with T<a href=”https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/rosario-dawson-on-clerks-3-hopes-for-marvel-1235213270/”>he Hollywood Reporter</a><em>. “</em>So what is that? You know it’s terrible.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_72″>What made matters worse was that Netflix’s Marvel shows were eventually canceled, which no one on the show <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/daredevil-cast-was-not-ok-when-the-netflix-show-was-canceled.html/”>was ok with</a>. The show’s premature ending meant Dawson couldn’t take another crack at the character. But that would change with <em>Daredevil: Born Again</em>, which sought to revive Netflix’s Marvel series on Disney +. Afer hearing the series was making a comeback, Dawson looked forward to the possibility of Claire returning to the show.</p>
<p id=”par-9_57″>“It’s been a long time coming,” she added. “I was really excited to know that all of our shows are actually part of the MCU now, with Charlie [Cox] and Vincent [D’Onofrio] coming over into these different projects now. So, yeah, 18 episodes [of <em>Daredevil: Born Again</em>]? I’m there! Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, they know where I am.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_64″>Dawson’s Claire may have been all the superheroes’ go-to nurse, but she soon became something more to <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/luke-cage-some-fans-wouldnt-be-sad-if-mike-colter-were-recast.html/”>Mike Colter’s Luke Cage</a>. Claire and Luke would get into a relationship on the latter’s titular show. But the relationship didn’t last, and one of Claire’s last scenes was breaking up with Cage. But the scene went through a few changes before it made it to TV.</p>
<p id=”par-11_67″>“I felt really grateful,’ she told <a href=”https://www.indiewire.com/features/general/rosario-dawson-marvel-netflix-claire-luke-cage-final-scene-1202007010/”>IndieWire</a> about the scene. “Because Cheo Hodari Coker was the showrunner, and it was kind of looking like, at least for that season, who knows if I’ll come back again? This was looking like it was going to be a big final scene for Claire, and it was really as a culmination of three years and being on five different shows.”</p>
<p id=”par-12_18″>So Dawson took matters into her own hands to amplify the scene by rewriting parts of the script.</p>
<p id=”par-13_52″>“When the scene was first written, to be honest, it was a little bit more written on his side and his storyline and that kind of stuff,” she recalled. “And I approached Cheo and had the audacity of adding some lines and rewriting some stuff and asked him if that could work.”</p>
<p id=”par-14_26″>Dawson shared that the showrunner liked the modified scene so much, he jokingly asked her if she wanted to be a part of the writer’s room.</p>
