Prince Harry Shares Bizarre Story About Talk With His Son Archie That Has Left Many People Dumbfounded

A lot of parents struggle with when it’s the right time to talk to their kids about certain subjects and how to answer questions they have at a young age. Well for <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-harry/?swcfpc=1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Prince Harry, he decided it was a good idea to talk to Prince Archie about something very serious when his son was just 5 years old and his admission has “baffled” many people.

Here’s what the Duke of Sussex claims Archie asked him about and how he answered those questions.

Prince Harry kicked off the seventh edition of the Invictus Games he founded on Feb. 8, 2025. This year marks the first-ever winter edition of the Games that are taking place in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia.

There have been plenty of highlights for the athletes competing and the Duke of Sussex has been there cheering them on. But one conversation the prince was overheard having left many scratching their heads about why such a thing was discussed with Archie. According to Harry, his son isn’t too young to talk to about “landmines” and people being “blown up.”

A video making the rounds on <a href=”https://x.com/IrisTheeScholar/status/1888992693164130631″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>X shows the duke relaying a story in which he says: “Archie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about how some of these guys [Invictus Games participants] were blown up. I think IEDs [improvised explosive devices] are probably a bit too much at this point, but I found myself talking to him about mines when he was 5 years old.

“Interestingly, it gave me a chance to talk about my mum, his grandma, which I didn’t even really consider. That became the outcome of the story for him. He wanted to see videos and photographs of his Grandma Diana out doing her thing for landmines all those years ago.”

In 2019, the prince did what his mother, Princess Diana, did more than two decades earlier and walked through a minefield in Angola to see the work of landmine clearance by the Halo Trust charity.

One commenter defended Harry’s decision to talk to his child about the subject writing: “That’s the best way to teach kids about their ancestors and it also served the purpose of possibly inspiring in little Archie an interest in taking up the cause someday. Very nice conversation to be having at Invictus Games.”

However, not everyone agrees. Many were astonished that Harry had that conversation with Archie while others don’t believe that such a conversation ever took place.

<a href=”https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2013250/prince-harry-prince-archie-landmines” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Express noted that X users posted: “I refused to believe that Archie asked about land mines,” and “What 5-year-old even knows about land mines?”

A third questioned: “Show me a 5-year-old that would instigate a conversation about land mines?”

And a fourth added: “That kid [Archie] is advanced yo. Crocodile as a first word … getting a waffle maker and camera … now he’s taking up landmine issues.”
