<p id=”par-1_55″>The new year hasn’t been going to plan for <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-harry/?swcfpc=1″>Prince Harry</a> and <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/meghan-markle/?swcfpc=1″>Meghan Markle</a>. After working to rebuild and repair their images, the pair got some <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/prince-harry-meghan-offended-firing-back-being-dubbed-disaster-tourists-took-morbid-fire-tour.html/?swcfpc=1″>bad press</a> when they toured areas of Los Angeles County devastated by wildfires and showed up in Pasadena for what many called a “photo opp” with the town’s mayor. </p>
<p id=”par-2_42″>Meghan’s cooking and gardening show set to debut on Netflix in January was then pushed back to March, and the duchess’s <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/meghan-markle-deeply-disappointed-criticism-magazine-introduced-world-princes-girlfriend-wild-about-harry.html/?swcfpc=1″>name made headlines</a> after damning allegations were printed in a <a href=”https://www.vanityfair.com/style/story/prince-harry-meghan-markle-cover-story-2025″>Vanity Fair</a> cover story about how she treats her staff. </p>
<p id=”par-3_37″>There’s also news of the Sussexes’ next project on the horizon that doesn’t seem to be their specialty, which is why one royal commentator says if they do it they really will become a total “laughing stock.”</p>

<p id=”par-4_33″>Following the end of their partnership with Spotify and the mystery surrounding whether Netflix will renew Meghan and Harry’s deal, another multi-million deal the couple inked years ago is being brought up again.</p>
<p id=”par-5_44″>The rumor mill has been spinning regarding the duke and duchess’s book deal with Penguin Random House. Word is Meghan was supposed to write a wellness book and she and Harry were jointly supposed to pen books on leadership as well as relationships. </p>
<p id=”par-6_71″>Royal expert Duncan Larcombe found the latter outrageous and on an episode of <em><a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKMlIGwzdl8″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered</a></em> told the <em>To Di For Daily</em> podcast host: “It sticks in the mind–Meghan, you’re estranged from your whole family apart from your mother and Harry, since you met Meghan, you’ve become estranged from your whole family full stop. So, are these really suitable people to write self-help books and talk about relationships and love? </p>
<p id=”par-7_27″>“They’ve got no credibility. I think, you know, they can write a book, sure, but I think they’ll make themselves into a laughing stock if I’m honest.”</p>

<p id=”par-8_32″>However, Meghan and Harry may not even have a chance to try and push any relationship book. That’s because <a href=”https://pagesix.com/2025/01/23/royal-family/meghan-markles-spotify-nickname-revealed-used-as-warning/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Page Six</a> is reporting that their deal with Penguin House has “dissipated.” </p>
<p id=”par-9_77″>Scholfield noted that “Harry and Meghan’s $20 million deal with Penguin Random House, that they signed in 2021, seems to have quietly dissipated” after <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/prince-harrys-memoir-spare-now-become-one-most-discarded-books-time.html/”>Harry’s memoir <em>Spare</em></a> was published. She added that Penguin Random House is said to have had “higher expectations” for the Sussexes but as Vanity Fair reported, “their work ethic is incredibly questionable, their collaboration skills are not so strong, [which] is potentially why Penguin Random House no longer [has a deal with them].”</p>
<p id=”par-10_42″>Speaking to <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixO2NMmwsoA” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Sky News Australia</a>, Schofield said: “I think we were all waiting for the Netflix deal to drop but it looks like the Penguin Random House deal might be the next to drop and that would be another embarrassing situation for the Sussexes.”</p>
